Lots of people also think it is really cool, because it brings New Zealanders together.

The kites of Matariki is also a legend, and is cool that people still fly kites on Matariki. Heaps of kids love to fly kites and think and see Matariki. The kites resemble Matariki.

Reading slides.

 Reading Slides.

I think the story was set in the bush in New Zealand. I know they were in the bush because, they hunted Moa and they scavenged for berries. I knew they were in the bush because they were one of the first tribes in New Zealand. Pai and his tribe live of the land and they use natural resources, like, ferns and plants. They hunt animals to survive and use plants in heaps of different ways. The story is based on how they live as the first settlers in New Zealand. Pai (the leader of the group) has a important role, which is to lead and hunt. They eat heaps of Moa because they can use the whole animal. They use the feathers for warmth, and the meat to eat. They have also learned how to garden and grow good veges. Pai has a daughter who dreams a lot, and can imagine pictures. I wonder how big their tribe is and why they decided to come to New Zealand. What do you wonder?

Wrinkle of time, Chapter 1😁

This is Chapter 1 of Wrinkle of Time. In the chapter these are the characters... Meg: Meg has been really depressed because she has not done good at school. She had a big fight with a boy a year older when he said Charles Wallace. Charles Wallace:  He is smart but, only started talking until he was four. He does not go to school. He has blond hair. Teacher: She is Megs teacher who is a bit disappointed with Meg. Kate/Mum: Kate is Megs Mum who is nice and good looking. Meg wants to be like her. Sandy and Denny's: They are twins. They are both 10. They are identical. Fortinbras: He is their big black dog. He is big and was scared of the storm. Mrs Whatsit: She is old but strong and tough. She stole sheets to wrap herself in.

First Meg had a fight with a boy at school. When she got home there was a storm that night. Meg woke up and then went into the kitchen. Charles Wallace had already had the milk on the stove. Then Charles Wallace explained that earlier he had found a lady called Mrs Whatsit in the bush, when he was walking the dog. Then Mum came down. They all had Milo and sandwiches. Then the dog started barking and Mrs Whatsit came in. She said she had been pushed off course by the storm. She had some sandwiches with them. She then thanked then and then carried on. That was a summary of the chapter.

I enjoyed when Mrs Whatsit came in.

Thank you for reading.

Chapter 11 to 13.

 Chapter 11 to 13

How have the events of chapter 10 changed the relationship between Jesse and his family in these chapters? Give three examples from today’s reading to

support your answer.

Long Answer:

In your opinion, why do you think Jess decided to share Terabithia with May Belle?

I think the events of chapter 10 has changed the family because I think they have became closer together because of the sudden death of Leslie. I think they all started to like Leslie. One of the reasons was that Leslie was respectful when going to church with them and showed them how respectful she can be. Another reason is that Jesse helped May Belle by getting back, Janice Avery.

I think Jesse decided to share Terabithia with May Belle because he felt bad for hurting her, and he really did not want to be alone. He knew May Belle would enjoy it and use her imagination.

Chapter 10 Answers.

“Your girlfriend's dead, and Mamma thought you were dead, too.” (p. 102)Why do you think the author ended the chapter like this? What mood or emotion was she trying to evoke in the reader?

I think the author ended the chapter like this because, it makes you want to read the next chapter, and figure out why the family was so sad. The author left it like this because it makes you think about it all.

She was trying to evoke a sad mood that really made the reader interested and feeling bad. The chapters are really interesting especially the chapter 10. They really make me want to read all the chapters again.

Chapter 8 and Chapter 9 answers.

 Question:

Lord, it

would be better to be born without an

arm than to go through life with no

guts.” What do you think this means?

Why?

I think it means it would be better to have no arm but have the guts to do things, so you can make  a difference to the world. It is better than being able to have an arm but, have no guts to do things. It is better because, you can be heard. Follow your instincts.

Short Answer:

Why does Mr. Aaron come home from work early in chapter 8?

He came home early because he lost his job.

They had no money for their clothes.

My Self Portrait

My Self Portrait.

Today Whaea Donna came into our classroom to teach us how to do a self portrait on google drawing. I learnt how to use the curve line and how to draw it. I tried my best. The little scribbles are meant to be frickels. It was really hard using curve because if you mess up you have to start it all over again. Over all it was hard and challenging. Do you like doing digital art? Good bye.

How to look after your chrome book.

How to make your chrome book last longer!

This Monday and last Monday Whaea Donna came in to teach us how to look after our chrome books. We had to make a poster about how to look after our Chromebooks. We had to show some photos of it. This is the poster my buddy and I created.

The learning was very fun. We got to list some things on how to look after our Chromebooks. Then we make a google doc for our poster.

Do you look after your Chromebook like you are meant to?

Bridge to Terabithia Chapter 2.

 Bridge to Terabithia.

Jess's first impression of Lessie Burke , he didn't know if she was a boy or a girl. When she said"There is no one around for miles we might at least be friends". Some how he knew she was a girl. Jess was not really interested so he bluntly said "I have work to do". He returned with a milk pale to milk the cow but when he came back she was not there. Jess did not really like her much. So it didn't worry him.

He never saw her till the first day of school (which was the race day). I think Jess's opinion on her will change on the running race day, because Jess did not know how fast she is. Jess might accept and be friends with Lessie Burke.

Thank you card and How thank you changes the world reflection.

 Reflection

This week we had to make a thank you card to a person that has helped us lately. We had to stick it in our book when we finished, for checking. First we had to to draft. Then edit. Then rewrite ( if we had to) and then publish on a card. I decided to make a pop up card, so I found a  youtube clip to follow. In the card we had to mention how we felt.  I made a thank you card for my brother for helping me cut up meat for the dogs. Then we had a big question we had to write how thank you changes the world. Thank you changes the world because it  complements  the person that has done something for you. This changes the world because it will make those to people to do good things which inspires other to do the same. Thank you shows you are grateful for something which will make other people say thank you.

Smile Peom

 Smiling poems

Smiling is like covid-19,
you catch it really fast.
Soon I had a smile ear to ear.
I walked down the road with the sun on my face.
Everyone saw my grin and then there faces turned as bright as the sun.
A big smile is all you need to make it speed wildly around the world like 1,2,3.
So get out of your house sharing your massive grin.

Report On My Information Report😃

My report on my information report

Last week, our writing task was to make a information report and we could present in any way. I presented mine on a poster. My information report was about Jack Russell's. First we had to plan our writing. Miss Slattery linked a planning sheet. After our planning we had to do a draft of our writing. We had to include a description, its habitat, movement, food and there breeding habitats. Then I wrote it all down on a poster, with a black pen. Next I drew a picture of the Jack Russell on my poster. Then I showed it to Miss Slattery, and she corrected it. Then I checked it again and carefully put it in the 'in tray'. I am excited for our next information report!  This is a picture of my information report about Jack Russel's.

A new Skill!

 A new Skill

Last week, we learnt what subjects and predicates are... In a sentence the subject is the noun or name includes all the descriptive information about the subject. The predicate includes all the descriptive information about the subject. Miss Slattery gave us a work sheet that have ten sentences on each side.

On the first side we had to draw a line in between the subject and the predicate. On the second side we had to circle the complete subject, and underline the predicate.

After we finished we glued it in our book and had to show Miss Slattery. This Skill will help me a lot in the future, because it will help me be able to tell the difference from a predicate and the subject. This will also help me be able to write excellent story's and sentences.

Mt Exam Recount, Detective😄

 Exam Recount

Yesterday, I woke up and I had rolled off the bed. I turned off my alarm and I had a quick drink of coffee. Then I chucked the old cup in my bag. Later on, I pulled all the cobwebs off my helmet and pulled it on. I jumped on my bike, but I fell and scratched my knee. Red blood had already appeared.

I tried again. I grabbed my headphones and my iPod and turned on Mindfulness music. When I arrived at university, I turned on my computer and started typing.

When I found the site I grabbed my green and blue pencil case, but just then my chrome book had gone flat. I biked home and grabbed the charger. I charged my device and started to get information for my exam.

Drop your pencils! We handed in our exams. At the end of the day they gave out the exams, I looked at my page. I  got a f minus. I biked home, then I jumped on my bed. I think, next time I’ll do more research.

Our exiting excursion😄

The Excursion

On Friday the 14th of August, our teacher Miss Slattery said "We are going to go on a day trip to Waitangi".  We were all pumped to go to Waitangi but we had a big two hour bus ride ahead. When we saw the bus it was a small bus. We jumped on. We were so lucky that the bus had air conditioning because it was boiling in there.

I was the one that was by the heater too so, I put my air condition at the coldest it could go. When we finally got to Waitangi it was 11:00 o'clock. We automatically ran in a line and followed Whaea Kerry, and Whaea Monica into the hall. We walked up the stairs and ran into a room.

First, we had lunch, and then they explained what the words computational thinking meant. Computational thinking is how you program some thing to do what you say or control. We played a game where there was a programmer and a  mover.

After playing the game and understanding how it works we had one last big lunch break before we could start  Scratch. When we started  Scratch, they explained how to use it and how to make the character move, and what buttons do what.

We had a fun time playing around with it and making an animation. My animation was about a crab biting a bear's foot. After showing each other we said good by and hopped back on the bus and drove home.

I was wondering when would we come next?
